Rachel Carson (1907-1964) was an American author, marine biologist, and conservationist.

  • She was a writer for the US Fish and Wildlife Service
  • Educated people about marine wildlife and geography, as well as conservation
  • Wrote multiple best selling books, including “The Sea Around Us,” which won the National Book Award
  • Was ahead of her time when it came to environmental issues
  • Advocated against the use of DDT and other pesticides, citing that it caused harm to the environment
