Hypatia of Alexander ([approx.] 350 – 415) was an astronomer, mathematician, and philosopher.

FAST FACTS:

  • Known as the first women to study math, philosophy and astronomy
  • It is thought that Hypatia was actually the one to establish an earth-centric universe that was later overturned by Copernicus and Galileo
  • She taught philosophy to many different people
  • She was murdered because of her philosophical beliefs
